LOMBOK UNAFFECTED BY EARTHQUAKE, TSUNAMI

LOMBOK, INDONESIA, December 28, 2004
Lombok Hotel Association (LHA) is deeply saddened by the devastating effects of the Richter 8,6 undersea quake epicenter off the Indonesian island of Sumatra and the dramatic after effects caused by tsunamis around the southern Asian region. Lombok was completely untouched by the December 26th quake that caused death and injuries in western Indonesia, Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Maldives and India.

Lombok – located some 2,500 km away from the earthquake and well-shielded by numerous large intervening land masses, did not feel the earthquake or experience any of the deadly waves it generated.

All infrastructure, tourism operations, airport services and hotels remain at full operational levels with hotels on the island ready to welcome holiday makers to this stunning island.
