DUTCH STUDENTS PLAY SOCCER MATCH IN GILI TRAWANGAN, LOMBOK

Lombok February 18th 2005
A group of Dutch Students visited Lombok on February 11th 2005 after a week of exploring Bali.
They spent two nights in Senggigi's most luxury villa (The Qunci) and four nights in Gili Trawangan organized by Lombok Network.

The boys; Joep Janssen, Martin Groenen, Jakke Cloin, Jan Hartman, Roel Kroeks, Dick Van Nunen, Michiel Van HaLder, Michiel Leenaers, Jeroen Persoons, and Erik Van Den Heuvel were in their last grade at the same University in Holland.
Joep Janssen, the leader of the group said,"we've known each other since our first grade at the same university, and we have planned this trip since five years ago".

When they first arrived! Having them picked up by Lombok Network coaches then transferred to Villa Qusia, the newest and most luxury private villa in Mangsit Senggigi, they were all surprised with the warm welcome and exotic atmosphere of the villa. "It's too much, it is more than what we've been expecting", they said.

On february 13th, they all go on fishing trip and continued to Gili Trawangan, spending their last four days before head back to the Netherlands.

Upon a special request, they asked Lombok Network to arrange a fun soccer match on Gili Trawangan against the local team from the island. They play with orange, while Gili Trawangan team play with dark blue with white strips costumes.

It was a very special event for the Gili Trawangan people as almost half of the inhabitants of Gili Trawangan and few tourists enthusiastic watch this soccer match, as this was the first time they saw a foreign football team against their beloved island's team.

The soccer match ended with score of  0-1, won by the foreign team (Dutch Students) over the penalty goal executed by Joep Janssen, the Captain.

Maartin Groenen said, "we're all so happy to be in Lombok especially the Gili Trawangan. The island's soccer team was great player. They move so fast, we're  lucky winning the soccer match because of our human size.

On their last day, they were picked up at bangsal harbor and get a free half day city tour before catching their flight to Singapore. They're all hope to be back again one day. The management of Lombok Network wish that this group will be followed by the next group. Who next???
