“Visa On Arrival” Finally happens in Lombok!
Tourism figures expected to rise significantly now

The new Governor of the province of West Nusa Tenggara, Drs. Lalu Serinata officially implemented the new Visa on arrival policy at Selaparang Airport Mataram on March 1st 2004 at ceremony conducted at the arrival lounge of Silk Air at the International Air Terminal at 18.10 hours.

Present, to meet the initial foreign national requiring VOA were, his excellency the Governor, Director of Culture and Tourism for West Nusa Tenggara, Drs. Machfud Ahmad, RM. Wiratsongo Utaryo. SE, the Head of Department of Immigration for Lombok and Mr. Arasu Ettikan the Manager of Silk Air for Lombok and Sumbawa.

The inaugural flight attracting VOA Regulations, was Silk Air direct flight from Singapore Flight number MI 126 at 18.18 hours, which arrive on time.

The first two lucky travelers to step of the plane and make history, were tourism consultants from New Zealand, Mr. Les Clark and Mrs. Lisa Cheogyal, both from the same consultancy, “Tourism Resource Consultants”.

The whole process for all the overseas nationals that were required to apply, was extremely quick and surprisingly problem free. Les and Lisa declared that they had a great flight from Singapore and found it very convenient and efficient for business, to fly direct into Lombok hassle free.

They were in Lombok to further develop tourism initiatives for New Zealand in Lombok.
